Add Some Life to Your Lent

Lent is a time for fasting, for new disciplines, and for new reflections on the coming celebration of Easter.  During this season, as we consider the magnitude of what Christ has done for us, why not seek a deeper understanding of that mercy through doing something for the preborn? Something you weren’t doing before — maybe praying more, or becoming better informed on the issue of abortion.  Maybe informing others.

Coming to a better understanding of God’s heart for the preborn, and His continued call to rescue “those being led away to death,” can teach us some pretty important things in the Lenten season.  Things like compassion, and courage, and self-sacrifice.  Things that Christ demonstrated as he died on a cross for our sins, and things that this present culture desperately needs.

Why not spend several days in Lent giving up some time to give to the pro-life movement?  It’s an open invitation, and it will always end in a better understanding of our Father’s mercy and love.

Join a 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign — Every year, 40 Days for Life holds Spring campaigns right alongside Lent.  Check out their website to find a campaign near you, then sign up for some prayer time on the sidewalk outside of the abortion clinic.

Pray the Liturgy for the Preborn — Download CEC For Life’s Liturgy for the Preborn at the Time of Death.  Take your youth group, prayer group, or small group out to the abortion clinic and pray this special service together. Get your pastor involved. If there isn’t an abortion clinic in your town, why not pray the Liturgy at your church one evening a week?

Dedicate Some Time to Documentaries — Do you know how abortion started in this country?  Get a copy of the documentary Maafa21 and find out. Watch it more than once if you need to.  Invite some friends to watch it.  Trade out movie night for examine-the-truth night. There are other pro-life documentaries out there as well: Hush, It’s a Girl, The 40 Film, to name a few.

Add in Daily Pro-Life Devotionals — Priests for Life offers a daily devotional that you can either order as a book, or find every day right here.  40 Days for Life also offers daily reflections all throughout the Spring campaign. Find those by clicking here.
